Crown:

The plant crown is where the stem meets the roots. Most crowns are planted at soil level or a little above ground level. Burying the crown below the soil can lead to rot and eventually kill the plant.

  1. Thank you Dianne. Your glossary will help those of us interested in gardening to use the proper terminology in the genre.

    Recently, I found myself using the improper terminology in reference to cacti. This is another term In and Around the Garden followers can add to their vocabulary.

    “Cacti” refers to more than one plant, where “cactus” deontes a single plant.
